MCC take on President XI

KATHMANDU, March 17 : The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) play their first match of their tour on Tuesday at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground against President-XI team of Nepal.

According to Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) speaker Tarak Mani Dixit, the current touring team is ‘B’ team of MCC. "To maintain relationship with associations of cricket playing nations they usually send three category of players, said Dixit to The Kathmandu Post. According to Dixit, generally MCC send their ‘B’ team for fast track countries like Nepal. As per their strategy, MCC send ‘A’ team for Test-playing nations and ‘C’ team for emerging nations.

The squad of the visiting club arrived on Sunday to play four matches in five days between March 18-22. Besides opening match against President-XI, they will meet Nepal Colt-XI, Everest-XI and Kathmandu-XI respectively on March 19, 20, and 22.

Meanwhile, the Advance Coaching Workshop under the cricket development programme of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) organised by CAN started Monday. ACC development officer " Rumesh Rutnayke and medical officer Vece Paes are providing the classes for the two-day seminar. A total of 18 coaches across the nations are participating at the seminar. Grading of the coaches will also be held after the conclusion of the seminar.
