MoU
on cooperation in reproductive health

KATHMANDU, March 26 :
Kantipur Publications and Population Services International (PSI), an INGO working in the
area of family health, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today to co-operate in
the area of reproductive health management.
Addressing the signing
ceremony, Kailash Sirohiya, Managing Director of Kantipur Publications said, "As part
of our social responsibility, we are committed to support PSI to improve the health
standards in Nepal."
"The Publications
realises its role in creating awareness so as to enhance the effect of much needed
behavioural change to bring about a paradigm shift in the Nepali social marketing
terrain", Sirohiya said.
On the occasion, Steven
Honeyman, Country Representative of PSI said, " We work for a behavioural change of
the public from the high risk behaviour to low risk behaviour." He also informed that
PSI is the largest social marketing organisation in the world working in the areas of
family planning, AIDS prevention and maternal health. "We work with the private
sector to deliver our public health goal", he said.
Rajendra Bahadur Singh,
Corporate AGM of Kantipur Publications, making a brief presentation on Reproductive
Health Situation in Nepal, said that there was a considerable gap between the level
of awareness about contraceptives and their actual use in Nepal. "Such joint
endeavours can play an important role in bridging this gap," he said.
