Indian Embassy win Soaltee Super Sixes

KATHMANDU, Nov 17 - Indian Embassy successfully defended the
Soaltee Super Sixes title as Kantipur Publications faltered on the final hurdle after
putting on valiant performance today on the last day of the tournament at the TU Cricket
Ground.
This was the second time in five-year history of the
tournament that Kantipur let the trophy slip out of grasp after reaching the final. Five
years back, Kantipur reached the final but lost to British Embassy.
Indian Embassy was made to struggle for the win after being
set a small target. They went into the last over, bowled by Kantipur captain Sohan
Shrestha, requiring 10 runs to win chasing 46/4 and finished the match with a ball to
spare.
Amit Jain scored 17 while Suresh Kumar got 23 before both
were bowled out on the fourth over by Anish Karna.
Earlier, Kantipur made disastrous start after being sent in
to bat. Gaurav Sirohiya was castled in the first ball of the innings while star player
Rohit Sharma was bowled out for 15 runs. Yogesh Swars unbeaten 14 and Pravin Karnas
six took Kantipur to 46 runs.
Kantipur, in the semifinal played earlier in the morning,
defeated Bank of Kathmandu convincingly by five wickets while Indian Embassy beat British
Gorkha by 6 wickets.
Set to score 54 for win, Kantipur hugely benefited from 34
extra runs and Paras Joshis 25-run over to complete the match in three overs. Rohit
remained unbeaten on 11 while Pravin got 8 with two fours. Bank of Kathmandu had scored a
modest total losing just 2 wickets with Rohit Singhs 17 and Ekraj Rawals 13.
Indian Embassy overcame 64/0 of British Gorkha without losing
any wicket as Suresh Kumar scored 23 and Amit Jain got 22. British Armys Captain
Seward, retired after scoring 33 and Ajay got 10 for British Gorkha.
Seward was later declared man of the series while Indian
Embassys Amit Jain and Suresh Kumar received best bowler and best fielder award
respectively. Kumari Banks Binaya Rana, who scored 28, 32* and 32* in three innings,
was declared best batsman of the tournament.
