Prince felicitates sports personals

KATHMANDU, Sept 12 :
Crown Prince Paras Bir Bikram Shah Dev, who is also the patron of National Sports Council
(NSC), awarded the players, national associations, sports employees, media and sponsors on
the occasion of 40th anniversary of NSC amidst a function held today.
Taekwondo players
Deepak Bista and Renuka Magar, who won medals in 14th Asian Games in Busan, were awarded
as the best players of the year. Similarly, Cricket Association of Nepal bagged the
best-run sports association award among 54 associations.
In the first-ever
anniversary progamme celebrated by the countrys apex sports body, Crown Prince also
honoured ex-sportsmen Bhupendra Silwal, Ganga Bahadur KC, Ram Prasad Gurung, Om Prasad
Pun, Nam Singh Thapa and Bhim Bahadur Thapa. They represented Nepal in 1964 Olympics in
Tokyo -Nepals first bid in Olympics. Similarly, international players Jit Bahadur
KC, Baikuntha Manandhar, Bidhan Lama and Sabita Rajbhandari were also felicitated in the
programme. First-ever international medallists coach Madhu Shamsher Rana was also
honoured.
Employees of NSC who
served more than 20 years were awarded service medals while those serving the council for
more than 25 years were honoured with long-term service medals. Member-secretary Kishore
Bahadur Singh informed about the council and its activities.
