Concerning the article Promoting Village Tourism by Basu Dev Bhatta (TRN, July 29, 2000) I would like to make a comment. Mr. Bhatta, in his write-up, claimed that Tony Parr is the first person in developing village tourism concept in Nepal, which is a totally wrong information. As the matter of fact Dr. Surendra Bhakta Prdhanang of Nepal is the first propounder and pioneer of village tourism concept in the country. Dr. Pradhanang who had conducted several researches regarding village tourism since last several years is a well-known tourism expert of Nepal. In addition he was successful to introducing his concept of village tourism in the Tourism Policy 1995. Likewise he could include village tourism concept in the Ninth Plan with 14 different tourism models because of his great endevour and devoted labour. Therefore I would like to request Mr. Bhatta not to mention such false information in his write-ups. Before publishing his/her article in a popular daily like TRN one should know the reality so that no reader will be confused and misled by false claims. Yes, Tony Parr is also a person related with village tourism in the country. However, as far as I know, he is not the first propounder of the village tourism concept. Instead, he is the first clever foreigner to earn from Nepals Village Tourism Industry. He signed an agreement for a period of 10 years with Sirubari Village Tourism Development Committee, Syangja district. Santa Lama, 25 years ago Udaipur, August 3:The flood water of Baruwa rivulet near the headquarters of the district which is in high spate due to torrential rainfall, has inundated surrounding land, reports RSS.n will be complete within this month, reports RSS. |
