Third Sagarmatha Basketball from Aug. 12 BY A STAFF REPORTER Lalitpur, Aug 6: A total of 16 schools of the Valley are taking part in the Third Sagarmatha Millenium Basketball Championships to be commenced from August 12-26. This was disclosed in a press meet organised by the host Sagarmatha Boarding School, the other day. W. Zimba, the founder principal of the Sagarmatha School talking to the press said that due to the pressure of the participants We only selected those schools who had applied first for the participation , said Zimba. The cost for the championship like the previous two meets is being taken by us and this time the cost of the championship is estimated Rs 120,00, he added. Zimba also said that the in the future, the schools from outside the Valley will also be asked to participate in the meet. On the occasion, he also informed about the rewards for the best player, best scorer and for the fair play in all three events. The current championship is divided into three categories and will be played under league cum knockout base, it was stated during the press meet. Sixteen teams are vying in the Senior Boys event while six schools in the Senior Girls whereas nine teams are on the fray in the Junior Boys events. Galaxy Public is the defending champion of both senior boys and girls, while the host Sagarmatha had won the junior champion. Names of the schools. Senior Boys: Sagarmatha High School. Shuvatara, Alpha, The Elites Co-Ed, Baba Boarding, Learning Realms Int, The Excezcissiors, Rhododendron, Angel Heart, The New Summit, Gleen Buds, Nava Prabhat, Gems, Birendra Sainik, Sridiwa, and Sun Rise. Senior Girls: Sagarmatha, Sun Rise, Ribs, Galaxy, The Excelsiors and the New Summit. Junior Boys: Sagarmatha, Baba, Gillet, The New Summit, The Excelssiors, Sri Diwa, Gems and Angel Heart |
