Govt to work for indigenous people: DPM Kathmandu, Aug 9 (RSS): World Indigenous Peoples Day is being celebrated in Nepal at the call of the United Nations today. In a message on the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of National Development Committee of Nationalities Ram Chandra Paudel said the day has a special importance for a country like ours which is multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-ethnic and extended best wishes to all brothers and sisters of the country for their progress. With the restoration of democracy, necessary steps have been taken for the development of indigenous peoples, Mr Paudel said, adding that His Majestys Government will launch various programmes for bringing these communities into the development mainstream. The Deputy Prime Minister also wished that the day would inspire all of us to become aware of our rights and make effort for the overall development of the country. Other Stories |
