Development programmes in 61 VDCs

Itahari, Aug. 20 (RSS): Integrated development programmes through the cooperatives approach are being launched in 61 village development committees in altogether eight districts of East Nepal under the Local Self-Governance Programme.

The Integrated Village Development Programme is also said to be making a lot of contribution in the development of the poverty alleviation saving system, literacy campaign, vegetable farming, curbing anti-social activities and teaching the village people the ideals of a good citizen.

The Village Development Programme has been launched as a pocket package programme in Dhankuta, Terhathum, Khotang, Udayapur, Morang, Sunsari, Siraha and Sankhuwasabha districts of East Nepal. The main objective of the Village Development Programme is to transform the educational, economic and social traditions of the rural people and bring about a guided change in the lives of the rural masses through the spirit of collectivism.
