Nepal Day observed in industrial India fair Calcutta (India), Dec. 24 (RSS): Nepal Day was observed here on Saturday on the second day of the on-going 14th Industrial India Trade Fair. Addressing the Nepal Day function, Minister for Science and Technology Surendra Prasad Chaudhari laid stress on the diversification of goods for the promotion of Nepal-India Trade and Commerce. He expressed the view that the trade fair was useful in this connection. He said the private sector should come forward more vigorously for promoting bilateral economic growth. Governor of the state of West Bengal Biren J. Shaha said West Bengal was enthusiastic about promoting economic and trade relations with its neighbouring country Nepal. Stating that exports to india had steadily grown during the last some years, vice-president of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Rajesh Kaji Shrestha underlined the need for bilateral trade exchanges between Nepal and India to sustain this growth. Vice-president of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Surendra Bir Malakar observed that the opportunity to organise the Nepal Day during the trade fair had further encouraged the Nepalese industrialists and businessmen for participation in such trade fairs in the future also. At the programme, the Nepalese cultural troupe performed a variety cultural programme depicting various cultures and folk dances of Nepal. A Nepalese food festival was also organised on Saturday night on the occasion of the Nepal Day. A large number of visitors could be seen enthusiastically visiting the Nepal pavilion during the trade fair participated in by six countries including Nepal. The trade fair will continue till next week. |
