Why Not All Local Teachers In Schools?

THE country’s legal provisions require all academic institutions, including schools and colleges, to hire Nepalese citizens as their staff. They can hire foreign teachers only in very exceptional conditions and that too with a prior consent of the education authority. Quite contrary to the state law many private schools, especially in the Kathmandu Valley, have employed foreign teachers in the name of the so-called quality education without receiving the required legal permission.

At a time when a large number of Nepalese citizens are unemployed, such activities should be checked in time before they become an incorrigible social problem. Isn’t it high time the Education Ministry acted?
