Trade via Haldia Port redure cost BY A STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu, Dec. 25:Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) has called for an initiative to set up the essential services at Haldia Port likely to serve as an alternative to Calcutta Port. "Haldia Port can serve as a good alternative to Calcutta Port for the shipping line companies in Nepal," NEFFA said in a press release. NEFFA said the shipping line companies were gradually getting attracted to Haldia Port due to high draft surcharge at Calcutta Port. The shifting water level at Calcutta Port, according to NEFFA, was likely to increase the transport cost considerably affecting Nepal's export and import. NEFFA said that trade via Haldia Port route would reduce the cost of import to and export from Nepal. |
