Min Bahadur, Surendra, Tej march on BY A STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu, July 4: In the Fourth day of Birthday Cup Boxing championship, Min Bhadur Gurung of Tribhuvan Club, Surendra Limbu of Puma Club and Tej Bahadur Thapa Magar of Kamalpokhari Club moved into the other round with a fashionable manner in the 54 kg category. Min Bhadur defeated Ramesh Yonjon of Danfe in a very close battle. Both the boxers exchanged quiet good punches in the early rounds. Though, Min Bhadur banking on left hooks managed to escape with good points which latter helped him to win the bout. In the same category, Surendra Limbu defeated Manoj Choudhary on points in a close battle. Both of them exchanged fierce shots but Limbu banking on defence helped him to garner vital points. Limbu also managed to hit some right and left punches to Choudahry, In other bout of the same category, Tej Bahadur too managed to outclass Tam Dorji of Gulmi in keenly tussle battle. Similarly, in the 57 kg, Jhanak Raj Thapalia of Kamal Pokahri Club after having to resist good number of punches made his way into other round by defeating Biredndra Kumar Singh of Banke. Singh, In fact was very impressive with his footwork and made some early moves against Jhanak. But due to the poor defence, he eventually had to surrender to Jhanak counter attacks. In the another encounter of the same category, Kumar Adhikari came strongly after being cornered by flurry of shots to beat Dipendra Maharjan. However, the bouts between Arun Subba of Sunsari and Birednra Bhattarai and Umesh Lama and Til Bhadur Gurung failed to impressive local crowds. As the fights had to be rescued by the umpire on the middle. Both Arun Subba and Umesh Lama marched into other rounds with RSC wins. Meanwhile, in the 60 kg category, the boxers the spectators managed to withnes some lightning battles between the boxers. Nirmal Kunwar of Tribhuvan Club taking the match on his grip defeated Tek Bahadur Gurung on points. Both of the boxers exchanged powerful shots from right to left. In other bout, Purna Bahadur Lama defeated Doblu Ghising. In the same division, Deb Singh and Rajendra Shrestha also own their bouts against Ranga Bahadur Buddha and Ramchandra Thapa Magar in a fashionable manner. In the heavy-weight category of above 63 kg, Raj Krishna Maharjan and Shree Prasad of Thribhuvan Club registered their victories defeating Shushil Ghimire and Dhan Bhadur Rana respectively. Before the start of the match, the crowds were thrilled and grilled by the famous singers Sanjay Shrestha, Nalina Chitrakar, Rajesh Payal and Ms Rachana Maskey. |
