BY A STAFF REPORTER The vaeiety approval release and registration sub committee of the National Seed Board has released the new varieties of Nawalpur Khairo Til-1 (Sesame) and Nawalpur Jhuse Til-1 (Niger). The two new varieties were released after the Sarlahi and Nawalpur based National Sesame Crop Research Programme affiliated with the National Agriculture Research Council (NARC) received positive feedback on the experiments carried out at the research center and the farmers field. Experiments have revealed that the average production of Nawalpur Khairo Til-1 and Nawalpur Jhuse Til-1 stands at 800 and 540 kilograms per hectare respectively, a press release issued by NARC said. The yield potentiality of Nawalpur Khairo Til-1 and Nawalpur Jhuse Til-1 is 1,200 and 650 kilograms per hectare. The stated productivity is for bordering farmland lacking irrigation and fertilizer. The Nawalpur Jhuse Til-1 variety could have fifty per cent more productivity in a well-managed farmland. The protein and oil content in the Nawalpur Khairo Til-1 has been found to be 50 per and 38 per cent respectively. Similarly, the protein and oil content for Nawalpur Jhuse Til-1 stands at 33 per cent and 32 per cent. Other Stories |
