Birgunj People Lack Civic Sense Through your esteemed newspaper, I would like to raise the issue of the civic awareness of the inhabitants of Birgunj. It is height of the barbarism that some people can blatantly urinate/defecate on the roads and open spaces completely ignoring the passers-by. Some people are habituated to chewing pan from dawn to till very late at night and spit randomly everywhere not even bothering to care whether it is hospital, school, cinema hall and bus etc. This apart, if some people juxtapose vulgar words in their rustic, often abusive language in front of elderly persons, damsels and whoever the onlookers may be, then others freak out in cinema hall by hooting and whistling whenever some hot scenes emerge on the screen. They dont seem to care that some people have come with their family to enjoy wholesome entertainment. More worrying is that some people think it is mandatory to throw their wastes filled in light polythene bags on the open road rather than to dump it in the container. These people, through unsavoury actions, are really tarnishing the image of Birgunj city. Isnt it high time for the concerned authorities of Birjung to launch programmes to raise the city dwellers civic sense and awareness before this historic towns image takes a severe beating?
