Where Have All The Micro-Buses Gone?

Ten months have already elapsed since the then government’s decision to ban diesel tempoo from plying in the street of the Valley. The then government, while making the decision, had assured that micro-buses would soon be arriving in place of the displaced diesel tempos. But even after 10 months, not one micro-bus has appeared in the capital. Many people do not know how a micro-bus looks like. What they have seen is only the photograph of the imported micro-buses taken by some photo journalists when they were entering Nepal via Kodari Highway two months ago. Interestingly, the public do not know where are the micro buses and why they are not plying in the streets. The decision to remove the polluting diesel Bikram tempos from the capital was a laudable decision, because their removal has at least prevented the environment of the Valley from turning from bad to worse. However, the passengers, especially during the rush hours, still have to face a scarcity of three-wheelers. The limited petrol, gas and Safa tempos are unable to meet the demand of the passengers and the public buses hardly carry them to their destination on time. As such, the concerned authorities must do something to provide the passengers with reliable and even comfortable transportation facilities.

For this the proposed micro-buse, I believe, will be the best option. But it is not understandable why the concerned authorities are delaying in operating micro-bus service in the Valley. I hope the concerned authorities will take up this issue seriously and initiate immediate steps to operate micro-bus service in the Capital as soon as possible.
