RCT improve chances to take second place; Naxal, Bansbari draw

BY A STAFF REPORTER

Kathmandu, June 17: Rani Pokhari Corner Team (RCT) improved its chance to gain at least second position in the over all table standing after having defeated Boys Sports Club (BSC) 3-1. In another match, Naxal Yuva Mandal and Bansbari Club played 1-1 draw in today’s Martyrs Memorial National Soccer League matches being organised at Dashrath Stadium by All Nepal football Association.

In a one-sided match, RCT took early control of the game and hit two goals in the first half against the lowly BSC. The Rani Pokhari team never looked threatened and went on creating one after another chances.

Forwards Raj Kumar Shrestha scored the opener for RCT in the 23rd minute. Captain Bal Gopal Maharjan added another for the RCT in the 35th minute.

After taking 2-0 lead, the RCT played superb game and created many opportunities. Dilli Ram Shrestha scored the third goal for the team in the 53rd minute. BSC, facing uphill task to restore the parity ultimately lowered the margin as Ash man Rai scored in the 67 minute.

In the second match of the day, Naxal boys and Bansbari 1-1 draw would probably be a setback to Banbasbari boys who are facing a likely relegation from the A division after being placed at the lowest spot among the 12 teams.

Naxal’s Sanjiv Manandhar gave his team 1-0 lead in the 11th minute but his efforts did not last long to be cherished as Bansbari’s Milan Adhikari equalised in the 19th minute. After playing 1-1 draw during the first half, both the teams later performed listless game in the second half as no teams could broke the deadlock and satisfied with the draw.
