80% works to link Chilime hydel to central feeder complete

Nuwakot, March 21 (RSS): The work of linking Chilime Hydroelectricity Project  to the 66 kv central feeder grid installed at Trishuli Hydroelectricity Centre and the Devighat Hydroelectricity Centre was eighty per cent complete, it is learnt from the 66-kv Chilime-Trishuli-Devighat Transmission Project Office.

It is a 39-kilometre distance between the 20-megawatt capacity Chilime Power House to the Trishuli and Devighat Hydroelectricity Centre and 92 of the 125 electricity pylons required to cover the distance have been constructed, chief of the Chilime Power Project Mr. Bishnu Prasad Upadhyaya told RSS.

He said power transmission lines have also been installed along the distance. The entire work is expected to be completed by July end.

The towers have been constructed at a distance ranging from 175 metres to 1240 metres depending on the relief features of the terrain, he said.

The construction works for the 66-kv Chilime-Trishuli-Devighat transmission had begun in January 1999 with the joint investment of about Rs 20 million from His Majesty’s Government and Nepal Electricity Authority.


More wheat output likely in Jhapa

Kakarbhitta, March 21 (RSS): Wheat production in this part of Jhapa district is expected to increase this year than in the previous years on the basis of its area of cultivation.

This year, wheat was cultivated on more area than in past years, according to the District Agriculture Develop-ment Office, Jhapa.

Local farmers of Duwagadhi and Mechi Nagar areas expect a bumper harvest this time and the output is estimated to increase by 25 per cent to that of the previous year, thanks to improved irrigation facilities.

According to junior technical assistant Sudista Narayan Yadav, this year wheat covers more than 40 bigaha land.
