Kathmandu Needs More Overhead Bridges

The overhead bridges, though a few in number, have been of great help for the pedestrians to cross the road specially when the traffic flow is heavy. Moreover, in terms of safety such bridges are very useful. But the number of overhead bridges in Kathmandu is not enough seeing that the roads are always congested with vehicles. It is not only around the Tundikhel area that the traffic is heavy but there are other parts of the city where crossing the road is quite risky. For example, the New Baneswore area has a heavy traffic flow and there have been many accidents. If there had been an overhead bridge there the situation would have been different. It’s now up to the concerned authorities to identify areas with heavy traffic flow and construct overhead bridges to facilitate the pedestrians.
