Fight Aberrations

PRIME Minister Girija Prasad Koirala while inaugurating the 48th founding day of Nepal Tarun Dal the other day urged the youths to work in an organised and disciplined manner to fight the aberrations and distortions widespread in the society. Tarun Dal, an organisation of democratic youths and a sister organisation of the ruling Nepali Congress was founded in accordance with the ideals and principles espoused by late B. P. Koirala with the aim of mobilising Nepali youths for the democratisation and development of the Nepalese society. Since its inception Nepal Tarun Dal had played a crucial role in the Nepalese politics till the political incident of 2017 B. S. when the then first popularly elected prime minister B. P. Koirala was arrested and imprisoned while inaugurating its convention at Thapathali. Certainly youths all over the world have a greater role in bringing change in any society. And Nepalese youths are not an exception in this regard. Nepalese Youths were always at the forefront in any political movement of the country. Whether it was the anti-Rana revolution of 1997 B. S. or the democratic revolution of 2007 B. S. or the Popular Movement of 2046 B. S. Nepalese youths have played the decisive role in overthrowing the then 104-year-old autocratic Rana regime and the 30-year-old partyless Panchayat system.

Youths in Nepal, who are the future leaders have been a major force for positive change, be it political or social. They have over the years played a pivotal role in consolidating the hard earned democracy and lobbying to check all forms of social aberrations. However, the need, as rightly pointed out by Premier Koirala, is to keep up the unwavering confidence and work towards overcoming current difficulties. It is obvious why the nation has been banking on the youth to streamline the entire social agenda. The youth have the much desired dynamism to keep abreast with the emerging technological achievements in the communication as well as other important sectors. Their ability to adopt with the modern trends of development could, in turn, bring gains to the country. This would only be possible if the youth of present day Nepal realise their importance in the task of nation building and move ahead to become the building blocks in a organised and disciplined manner.
