Pokhara is popularly known as the "Queen of Hill Station" with its forest and beautiful houses. This is a valley with natural beauty, including mighty rocks, variegated hills, emerald lakes, laughing streams and enchanting waterfalls that continue to attract bird watchers, wildlife and tourists. Here one can sail or row a hired boat across the waters of Phewa Lake. The two-storey temple of Barahi at the centre of the lake is dedicated to the boar avatar of Ajima, the deity representing "Shakti" (meaning power). The Himalaya is indeed the major allure for the tourists coming to Pokhara, which is the base for mountaineering expeditions. Many tourists come to Pokhara for sightseeing, trekking and for short hikes and excursions. The exciting Himalayan range can be seen very close from the city without having to go on a major trekking expedition. It is one of the best places to go trekking, rafting and for speculator panoramic view. At the same time, Pokhara is a prime destination for those interested in art, culture, craft and beauty while there are various places that can catch tourists attention. Fine example of such delightful places are Seti Gandaki which runs underground with growls and snarls, Davids Fall, Mahendra Gupha (cave), Museum, the old bazzar, Bindabasani Temple, Buddhist Monastery etc. Besides, mouth watering traditional Nepalese cuisine and dishes of ones choice is found nowhere else. Eating out is a real joy with so many exotic and breath taking views of mountains. Pokhara is the centre of adventure because each province has its own speciality. Machhapuchchhre is the pride of Pokhara the way Sagarnath is the glory of Nepal. Pokhara with its adventure opportunities, historical monuments, century old traditions and legends, thundering rivers swollen by the snows of Himalayas and most of all the friendly people of distinct cultures and races speaking the courteous language of hospitality makes it a living heaven.
