Ads to be given in proportionate manner: Gupta

Kathmandu, Nov. 3 (RSS): Minister for Information and Communications Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta has disclosed that advertisements are to be distributed in a proportionate manner.

Speaking at a discussion programme on making the information and national advertisement policy effective organised by the Department of Information at the communications Ministry today, Minister Gupta said the Ministry is also responding positively to the agreement shown by newspapers to the idea of accepting a lump sum by way of annual subsidised advertisement instead of concessional rate newsprint from the National Trading Ltd.

Giving directives to all the ministries to implement the government's advertisement policy as a national public welfare advertisement policy, Mr Gupta also said that the spokesman of every ministry should bring government notices to the public level through the medium of advertisements.

At the programme a five-member committee was constituted under the convenorship of the director general of the Department of Information in order to collect necessary suggestions, make the national policy on public welfare advertisements systemic and enforce the proportionate advertisement distribution system.

Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications Sriram Poudel, director general of the Department of Information Yubaraj Pandey and the spokesmen of all the ministries also expressed their views on the occasion.
