LETTER TO THE EDITOR

 Kathmandu Sunday November 12, 2000 Kartik 27,  2057.

Do Something

The country seems to faced with a series of crises. On the one hand, the number of unemployed people is increasing due to high population growth rate while on the other the country’s economy seems to have almost come to a standstill. On top of all this, the Maoists’ insurgency and violence for the last five years have given a serious setback to social, economic and political development of the Kingdom.

In such a critical situation which calls for a national consensus, if political parties that claim to be responsible for leading the country entangle themselves in intra and inter-party squabbles, the people could lose their faith in them. This is not a time to quarrel for power but a moment to collectively put the maximum possible efforts to resolve the issues.
