LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Timely Action Needed

The ongoing clash between the hoteliers and their employees seems to be going unendingly. The employers have out rightly rejected the workers’ proposal of giving them ten per cent of service charge as tips from the customers. The hotel owners are of the opinion that the proposed provision will result in the slump in their business. This, however, is a common practice in most of the hotels all over the world where the standard tip is at least 15 per cent.

The brawl over the perks and facilities benefits neither party and on top of that it will adversely affect the tourism, one of the backbones of national economy. Therefore, the government committee recently formed to resolve the issue should work at a war footing before it is too late.
