A few days back I went to buy milk at Maitidevi from where the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) supplies milk to local people early in the morning. But to my great surprise, the men (perhaps the DDC agents) stationed near the Petrol Pump denied to give me milk albeit he had two crates of milk. Without any hesitation he informed that the milk he had was for the shopkeepers and not for the common clients and told me to buy it from a local shop. As it was the Shardda Day (Death Anniversary Day) of my late father I needed more milk and I myself instead of my housemaid had gone to purchase the milk. But I could not get even a packet of milk from the agents. Later I bought it from a local shop paying Rs.12 for each packet. If I had been able to purchase the same from the DDC agents, the cost of each packet would be only Rs.11. I am sure that the DDC drops milk in each nook and corner of the city early in the morning so that the local people can get it at the lowest price. But the above mentioned agents seem to be doing business by supplying milk to shopkeepers and not to the common people. Thus, I humbly request the concerned authorities, especially the DDC authorities to watch carefully each activity of its agents. Those agents who denied to sell milk to the common people must be penalized. Purusottam Banskota |
