Physiotherapy building opened at Pokhara Hospital complex

Pokhara, Oct. 2 (RSS): Charge d'Affaires of Finland to Nepal Asko Luukkainen today inaugurated the newly built physiotherapy building at the Pokhara Hospital complex at Hariyokharka.

On the occasion, Kaski District Development Committee chairman Punya Prasad Paudel inaugurated the out patient department and the self care ward building at the same complex.

The physiotherapy building built at a cost of Rs. 1.35 million with the cooperation of the Finnish government will be helpful in the treatment and rehabilitation of disabled patients suffering from various diseases including leprosy and also those injured in accidents.

Likewise, the three self-care wards built at a cost of Rs. 700,000 received from the Francis Leprosy Guild, Britain, will help leprosy patients who have been cured after undergoing treatment to make better use of their own limbs.

The Out Patient Department built with the cooperation of the Mark Cell Wood Trust at a cost of Rs. 1 million should be helpful for the treatment of patients suffering from leprosy and other diseases.

On the occasion, the Charge d'Affaires and the DDC chairman jointly gave away gold medals and certificates to 14 employees who have served continuously at the Hariyokharka Hospital for more than 20 years.

The Finnish Charge d'Affaires said that the hospital constructed with the financial cooperation of the government of Finland would render further humanitarian cooperation.

At the function chaired by the international director of I.N.F.A. Mr. A. Voreland, DDC chairman Paudel, medical superintendent of the hospital Dr. Fried Bert Herm, and president of the Kaski district committee of the association for the Welfare of Mentally Retarded Umesh Sharma also expressed their views.
