His Majesty pays homage to goddess Durga Kathmandu, Oct. 4 (RSS): His Majesty the King paid homage to Goddess Durga Bhavani at the Dashainghar at Hanumandhoka on the occasion of "Phulpati" today. His Majesty was accompanied by Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. According to the tradition, the Phulpati placed at Jamal after bringing it from Gorkha was escorted to Hanumandhoka Dashainghar today by a colourful procession. In the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen and HRH the Crown Prince, the Phulpati was offered worship and sacrifice amidst religious recitals at Nasalchowk and Mulchowk of Hanumandhoka and then taken into the Dashainghar. A contingent of the Royal Nepal Army presented a Royal salute on the occasion. COAS Rana gives away Nishan flag to Shrimehar Lalitpur, Oct. 4 (RSS): Chief of the Army Staff General Prajwalla Shamsher J. B. Rana today gave away Nishan flag to Shrimehar Company at a programme organised by the Shrirajdal Battalion at local Lagankhel. Shrimehar Company was instituted during the reign of His late Majesty King Rana Bahadur Shah in 1836 Bikram era and disbanded in 1855 Bikram era. The fact that the Nishan of the company was handed over to Chhyas Kamini Company through Kaji Ranadhwoj Thapa has been stated in the brief history of the Royal Nepal Army Nishan. The Nishan which was at the Sadar Mulkot, Hanumandhoka, in the name of Shrichhyas Company has been handed over today to Shrimehar Company by the Chief of the Army Staff General Rana. The name of the company instituted on 19 Ashadh 2948 B.S. was changed as Shrimehar Company as per the decision of HMG on 1 Baisakh 2055 B.S. At present Major Devendra Bahadur Medhasi is the commander of the company which has "Atal Bhakti (steadfast in loyalty)" as its motto. |
