When I participated in an international seimar on export promotion held in the Indonesian capital Jakarta in 1984, I found that none of the participants representing Nepal were expert in the relevant field. At the seminar that was participated in by various international experts, I witnessed that the Nepalese participants were not able to speak anything, let alone make any valuable contribution to the event. This seems to have become a trend in the developing countries like Nepal where people are less concerned with the content to such global summit but only interested in going abroad. The fact that persons who know nothing about journalism took part in the recently held international sports event illustrates this. Dr. Suman Kumar Regmi |
