Hyatt Regency - tourists destination BY A STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu, Aug. 31: Hyatt Regency Kathmandu has started with 290 rooms, set on 37 acres of artistically landscaped grounds. The elegant low rise design of the hotel embodies traditional Newari architecture, reflected strongly in the various courtyards, hand carved wooden pillars and ceiling. Located close to the airport and city centre, Hyatt Regency Kathmandu offers International standards of service and accommodation to the discerning traveler, according a Hyatts press release. Developed by Taragaon Regency Hotels Limited, Hyatt Regency Kathmandu is a distinct mark of fine architecture and craftsmanship. The subtle fusion of creativity with novelty, ensures modern day comfort and convenience but with a flavour of the past. The entrance to the hotel is marked by life size mythological animals, welcome towers and beautifully carved niches. Special efforts are made to introduce guests to different aspects of Nepalese traditions and age old cultures. The Lobby is a visual delight, with a special area designated as the Temple Court wherein exist the legends of the living Gods and Goddesses. Nine living Chaityas in the Temple Court are replicas of shrines built between the 11th and 18th centuries from the various regions of Nepal. Every evening prayers are offered with the ceremonial lighting of butter lamps, to the Gods and Goddesses believed to be living inside the shrines, the press release says. HyattRegency Kathmandu has 290 well appointed, spacious and comfortable Guest Rooms including the four Junior suites, an Executive suite and a Presidential suite. The guest rooms feature cozy duvets, large work desks, comfortable lounge chairs, direct dial telephones, data port for internet connection, well stocked mini bars and large bathrooms with separate shower and bath facilities, it is said. Three floors of exclusive Regency Club accommodations provide the privacy and luxury of a small boutique hotel, but with the amenities and conveniences of a large hotel. The Regency Club Lounge offers panoramic views of the Boudhanath stupa, one of the largest stupas in Asia and the holiest outside of Tibet, and features a Boardroom, VIP concierge service, separate TV room and a well equipped library. Regency club guests can indulge in daily continental breakfast, all day tea and coffee, evening cocktails with pre dinner canapes...all with that extra level of personalised service. Hyatt Regency Kathmandu has five food and beverage outlets including room service. The signature restaurant is the Rox Restaurant and Bar, a three story entertainment and dinning venue, distinctly different from other dining options in the country. The Cafe is located on the lower lobby level and serves Continental, Indian and Nepalese cuisine. The Terrace is the poolside Restaurant and Bar serving all day light meals and beverages. The Lounge at the lobby offers a wide selection of wines by the glass and other beverages. The ambience of the dining areas is matched by the Epicurean delights of the menu. There are a variety of recreational options available to guests. The Club Oasis features a well equipped fitness centre, a health and beauty spa, swimming pools, an outdoor Jacuzzi, three flood lit tennis courts and a jogging track amidst the lush gardens. Hyatt Regency Kathmandu also offers comprehensive Conference and Banqueting facilities. These include a Regency Ballroom seating up to 400 people, two meeting rooms and a boardroom with large pre function areas indoors and outdoors, the press release states. A fully functional and technologically enhanced Business Centre is equipped with audio visual and telecommunication facilities, confidential secretarial support, interpreters, photocopy, facsimile, internet, email, and voice mail facilities. General Manger of the hotel, Martin van Kan endorses, "the service standards and facilities you can experience in any Hyatt hotel in any part of the world is what you will experience here."
