Protect Public Property

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has done a commendable task by constructing the overhead crossing at some of the capital’s busiest places. Such laudable constructions have indeed eased the pedestrians’ problem of crossing the traffic-congested roads without having to risk their lives. However, it is a sad fact that they have not been properly utilised; most of the pedestrians, even those who look educated and decent, go across the road right under the ‘sky bridges’. Many a people have drawn public attention stressing the proper use of these bridges and suggested the concerned people to think of their own safety.

Besides the misuse of these costly constructions, they have been ravaged much to the public dismay. Now one can see that the rubber coverings of the bars on both sides of the stairs have come off. Certainly such fixed things do not break loose on their own; this seems to be an act of some nasty guys who have no feeling for the public property. Everybody should discourage such anti-social elements from destroying property that belongs to the people.
