Maoist assault VDC head, family members Nuwakot, Apr. 5 (RSS): Chairman of Haldikalika VDC Hansaraj Giri and two members of his family were seriously injured by a group of Maoists tuesday. The Maoists entered the chairmans house around 10 p.m. while asleep and woke up his niece Yubaraj Giri and son Dipendra Giri and took them to the nearby jungle, about 30 metre away from his house and beat them. The chariman has factured his legs while the two other persons sustained minor injuries. According to the Trisuli Hospital, chairman Giri has been sent to Kathmandu for treatment. In a seperate report, Ananta Prasad Gajurel, a non-gazetted second class employee at the district adminstration office, Nuwakot, has also been abducted by some Maoists from his residence in Pipaltar Wednesday night. In Syangja, a bomb believed to have been planted by Maoists at Agricultural Development Bank, Syangja exploded at a round 3:30 a.m. this morning. All the doors and windows of the northen side of the banks main administrative building have been damaged by the explosion. The bomb explosion has created a fearful atmosphere in the locality. Police had not reached the site of the explosion till 7 a.m. this morning. In Dunai (Dolpa), workers of the underground CPN (Maoist) have looted 20 muzzle-loader guns from various VDCs some 35 miles from the district headquarters Dunai. The Maoists had looted the guns from the local people in Kaigaon, Rimi, Sarmi, Narku, Kalika and Lhon VDCs. The Maoists roam about openly these days in different VDCs far from Dunai. Other Stories |
