BY A STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu, Apr. 15: Bijay Bahadur Shrestha and Mahendra Suwal became first and second with 65 and 66 net score respectively in the San Miguel Golf Challenge Cup 2001 championship. Founder president of Amatya Enterprises, Krishna Bahadur Amatya, and Executive Director of Everest Brewery, Dr Daman Bahadur Amatya, gave away cups and prizes to the winners. In the prize giving ceremony, President of Mount Everest Brewery Piush Bahadur Amatya announced that Rupees five lakhs will be given for the renovation works of the Akash Bhairab temple at Indrachowk while Rupees two lakhs will be given for the construction of a new building of the Royal Nepal Golf Club. In the junior golf championship jointly organised by the Royal Nepal Golf Club, Mount Everest Brewery, Ram Karki and Norbu Sherpa scored 62 and 64 net score to become first and second respectively while Ritu Lumba won the Best Lady Golf Player award with a 67 net score. In another, play full handicap held at the Til Ganga Golf Course on April 13, 14 Chuda Bahadur Bhandari won the Best Gross title, former I.G.P. Khadgajit Baral won the Best Super Senior Golfer award and Min Bahadur Raut won the Best Senior Golfer title. Similarly, Thomas Fistler was awarded for most birdies, Timo Lahatneh for the longest drive in hole No. 4, Mani Rai for the nearest to the pin in hole 18. Ang T. Sherpa was awarded for lucky 11 while Pemba Sherpa was presented the Best Sportsmanship title. No player was able to win Rs four lakhs allocated for hole in one in hole No. 18. Likewise, Chuda Bahadur Bhandari and Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha were adjudged winner and runner-up in the annually organised Golden Tiger Moonsoon Eclectic 2000-2001Golf Championship. Other Story |
