Izhar, Gupta lift Parsa into final BY A STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu, April 26: Mussaraf Izhar and Bishal Gupta produced excellent performances with bat and ball respectively to lift Parsa into the final of Jaya Trophy National Cricket Tournament to be played tomorrow against Kapilsbastu at Tribhuwan University Ground. The two losers of semifinalists vie for third spot at Engineering ground the same day. The late flourishes from Morang batsmen could not saved the day for their team as they went down to Parsa by 16 runs in the Jaya Trophy semifinal at the Tribhuwan University Ground today. The Parsa all rounder Izhar smashed Morang bowlers to score fifty runs in just 45 balls. Izhar was named the Man of the Match for his quick fire fifty runs and one wicket. Parsa scored a fighting 216 runs losing eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs. After losing fourth wicket of Kalamuddin, who scored 33 runs, for just 89 runs, Izhar and fellow Jaya Prakash Sarraf (32 runs) gave respect to the Parsa innings. Nasir Khan, who came to bat at No.9, piled the agony of Morang bowlers with his 21 notout in 34 balls. In reply, Morang batsmen looked vulnerable from the start as they lost their six wickets for just 59 runs before Anish Aryal (55 runs in 58 balls) and Raj Kumar Pradhan (37 runs in 37 balls) took the charge against the Parsa bowler. Anish and Raj Kumar scored fluently hitting Parsa bowlers all around the lush green TU ground as they accumulated solid 83 runs in the seventh wicket stand. They even threatened to snatch the victory as they took their score from 59 for 6 to 142 for seven. But with the fall of half centurion Anish, who smashed seven 4s and one 6, at 142, it was the end of Morangs hope for making it into the final. The Morang teams nemesis was no other than Parsa bowler Bishal Gupta whose bowling figure read 10-2-25-4 proved that he did the maximum damage to the Morang hopes of entering into this years final. Morang had to bow out from the semifinal with 16 run loss as they faltered at 200 runs losing all their wicket despite the last ditch efforts coming from tailenders Raj Kumar Saravjit Pandey (20 runs) and the last man Amardeep Koiree who scored 14 runs with one four.
