Gaijatra procession for eternal peace of Their late Majesties today

Kathmandu, Aug. 4 (RSS): A procession accompanied by the singing of hymns from the Ramayan and other religious hymns is to be taken out under the joint auspices of Bishwa Shanti Bhagawat Bhajanashram, Badya Shiromani Ganeshlal Sangeet Pratisthan, Sangeet Pratisthan Nepal, Shanti Maitri Pariwar and Yog Mandir, Pulchowk on Gaijatra tomorrow, wishing emancipation and eternal peace to the departed souls of His late Majesty King Birendra, Her late Majesty Queen Aishwarya and the other departed members of the Royal Family.

The procession will commence from Ashok Buddha Stupa, Pulchowk tomorrow at 10 a.m.


Shrestha releases poetic work

Bhaktapur, Aug. 4 (RSS): Minister for Forests and Soil Conservation Gopalman Shrestha released a poetic work entitled "Sharada" by Tilak Prasad Kayastha at a function organised by Gyaneshwori Sharada Devi Lumanti Guthi Khwapa, Bhaktapur here today.

The poetic work centers around the life and work of woman social worker the late Sharada Devi who played exemplary role in dislodging the Rana regime. The author of the poetic work is the late Sharada Devi’s husband.

Addressing the function, Minister Shrestha said the late Sharada Devi had tirelessly fought for women’s freedom and restoration of democracy.

MP Lekh Nath Neupane lauded the role played by the late Sharada Devi in promoting women education, restoration of democracy and promoting public awareness against outmoded social practices.

Ex-minister Prof. Aishworya Lal Pradhananga, Nepal Tarun Dal central member Binod Kayastha, literatteur Chittaranjan Nepali, Tejeshwor Babu Gwonga, NC elderly leader Bishnu Bhakta Bhuju and others also highlighted the life and work of the late Sharada Devi.


Indigenous groups should fight for rights

Kathmandu, Aug. 4 (RSS): The Nepal Tamang Ghedung organised a seminar on "the present national politics : an all party conference, ethnic issues and national concesus" here Saturday.

Speaking at the seminar, MP Bir Bahadur Singh said that indigenous groups should struggle for their rights.

Senior human rights activist Padma Ratna Tuladhar noted that political parties should pay heed to the resolution of the problems being faced by ethinc groups.

CPN-ML politburo member Trilochan Dhakal, Nepal Sadbhawana Party central memer Bhogedra Thakur, convenor of national popular movement coordination commettee Bhakta Bahadur Shrestha and the alternative party member of Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party Sanak Man Maharjan dwelt on the problems of the ethinc groups at the preliminary session presided over by the central chairman of Ghedung Parasu Ram Tamang.
