Traders stress the quality of spice to boost economy BY A STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu, Aug. 14: At an interaction programme jointly organised by Nepal Chambers of Commerce (NCC) and International Trade Centre (UNCTAD), here today industrialists and businessmen discussed about the quality of spices. Addressing the interaction programme, representative of the ITC Antoni Sandana, stressed the need to promote the quality of spices. Similarly, Dr. CK George, Neil Bukhorst of American Spice Trade Association and Rodger Clarck of European Spice Association and that the export volume of Nepalese spices would be enhanced if the quality of the spices is improved. While presenting the working papers, the resource persons stressed the need to focus on the quality of spice. Addressing the seminar member of the National Planning Commission Dr. Hari Shankar Tripathy said that the export of spice could help promote the national economy to a great extent. Besides, improving quality, stress should be laid upon the quantity as well, he added. Export of spices could be good source of foreign currency, he said. Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, chairman of Nepal Chambers of Commerce stressed the need to focus priority on the production of agricultural goods. Antoni Sandana of ITC highlighted the importance of the interaction programme. First vice president Jagadish Kumar Khetan also spoke on the occasion.
