Lets Revive Theatre Culture Through Drama Festival Besides occasional performance of drama for charity the state-owned National Theatre has become almost vacant and lifeless for years. With very few dramas being staged in the theatre it seems as if there are nobody interested in theatre activities and that all eyes are on movies and television serials. Movies can never replace dramas. Many prefer dramas to movies because live performances are lively and more effective than all those fictitious recorded things people watch on the screen. At such a disheartening situation, something has to be done to revive the theatre culture that promotes national language and literature. Therefore, I sincerely urge all the conscious citizens, who have love and respect for Nepali language and literature, to join hands together and launch some activities towards this end. And one of the best ways to begin would be to organise national drama festival, as was often done in the past. Lokesh Baral |
