Financial institutions should support agriculture Hetauda, Aug 19 (RSS): Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank Dr. Tilak Rawal inaugurated the World Merchant Banking and Finance Limited at Ward No. 1 of Hetauda Municipality Saturday. The banking transactions will be conducted from the working capital of Rs. 120 million invested directly by the various entrepreneurs of Kathmandu, Birgunj and Makwanpur, it is learnt from the World Merchant Banking and Finance Limited, Hetauda. At the function, Governor Dr. Rawal said various financial institutions should be active and commitment should be made to raise agriculture output and the establish industrial districts in the country for poverty alleviation. On the occasion, Hetauda Mayor Dormani Paudel and president of Narayani Transport Entrepreneurs Association Hira Lal Shrestha emphasised the need for the financial institutions to provide loans to farmers to carry out income generating programmes to become self-reliant. Administrator of the central region Ananta Raj Pandey, president of Makwanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Keshav Shrestha and manager of the World Merchant Bank and Finance Limited Rajesh Hari Joshi also expressed their views at the function chaired by its chairman Nir Shankar Shrestha. Meanwhile, the financial institution has commenced its transaction from today itself. In Kathmandu, a high level task force has been constituted under the convenorship of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry(FNCCI) President Rabibhakta Shrestha to take necessary steps inconnection with the various demands being put forward by the Maoists. The decision to this effect was taken by the meeting of the FNCCI standing committee held here recently. The task force is expected to hold extensive discussions on these matters and extend cooperation in resolving the problems of the industry and trade sectors. |
