Nepalese chess players to play with computer BY STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu, August 22: In the history of Nepalese chess, a computer, for the first time, will be one of the participants against top Nepalese chess players. The Rambir Memorial Open Chess Tournament, which is going to be hosted from tomorrow at Makhan Tol of Kathmandu, will incorporate a computer against Nepals reigning chess champion, past champions and all new players. The computer is playing, as the top rated participant in the tournament with 2250 rating points. The tournament being organised to in the memory of late Rambir Shrestha, Secretary of the Nepal Chess Association, will be played with Swiss League basis and will continue until September 2. Players emerging to top ten slots in the tournament will receive cash prizes. According to senior chess player Sita Ram Aggrawal was of the opinion that the tournament will be tough one for the top and veteran chess players of the country. "The way new Nepalese young players are coming, it would not be an easy task for old and national players in the tournament." Likewise, the one of the members of the tournament committee and treasurer of Nepal Chess Association Sujendra Shrestha said: "The tournament being organised in the memory of late Rambir Shrestha will provide an added opportunity to sharpen their skills while it will polish the skill of old players." |
