Let’s Join Hands To End Child Labour

Forcing children to work is child Labour. Due to poverty, lack of opportunities and lack of education this problem has become very serious in developing countries like Nepal. To get education and basic needs is the right of each and every child. Though the government says it has totally stopped child labor, the social evil continues to exist even today. The small children working in houses, shops especially in the hotels and restaurants, tempos and buses touches my heart. Though I have been able to study well, I don’t feel happy when I see small children like me working very hard. It is very cruel to compel them to work at a time when they have to study. How can a nation develop if the children are not educated today? All of us should think very seriously. Some the children working in carpet factories and other organizations have been freed but others are still found working in hotels, houses, shops and other such places. There have been news reports about the child working in factories for whole day and night without sufficient food and health care. They are not paid well. When I read the news, my heart weeps but I am unable to do anything. I want to cry and request all to understand their situation and free them from those difficulties. People talk of human rights and child rights. They make speeches in front of cameras and become happy to see their own faces on the television. They forget their speech when a small child like their own dear son and daughter brings them tea and prepares food. Is this not an irony? We hear that there are many NGOs working for the welfare of the children. They get dollar from the donors, make speeches in the star hotels, take breakfast, lunch, and cocktail dinners in the name of the small children like me. I want to ask them: don’t you feel ashamed to drink and make speech in our name? If there is no child labour, you NGO sisters and brothers cannot enjoy and employ your relatives. Your are the deceivers, cheaters and exploiters of the society. You bargain with the government and people about the child labour and fill your big bowl. Feel ashamed and do something for the children. Please do something for the children. Remember your son and daughter when you see a child lying in the street. Let’s not forget the future of the children, the backbone of the nation. Do not pretend you are working for the children. But do it practically. Let’s promise for the welfare of the children. The government, parents, NGOs, students and we children join hands together. Let us make a commitment.
