It is indeed quite disheartening to learn that the government offices in different parts of the country have not been paying the electricity tariff to the Nepal Electricity Authority. Though the amount, which they owe to NEA runs into millions, nothing is being done so far to collect the revenue. What is more frustrating is that when the government offices are evading the tariff, the NEA has raised the electricity tariff creating a lot of inconvenience to the consumers. Moreover, it should be noted that NEA has still not been able to control the leakage of electricity. Shouldnt the NEA take action against the defaulters and control the leakage before raising the tariff? Why should the consumers always be the victims of ill management and negligence. Is it justifiable on part of NEA to ask Y to pay because X defaults? Or, is NEA just trying to encourage such tendency? Kiran Prajapati |
