Tarun Dals dist meet in Solukhumbu Solukhumbu, Aug. 28 (RSS): The first district convention of the Nepal Tarun Dal Solukhumbu concluded at Salleri Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Bal Bahadur K.C. said the youth should support and strengthen the government and the party. Earlier, inaugurating the convention, president of Nepal Tarun Dal Bal Krishna Khand urged the Nepali Congress government to hold talks with the Maoists and resolve the problem peacefully but without making any changes in the basic structure of the constitution. District president of the party Suman Kumari Rai presided. Amazing tree root found in Sunsari BY A STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu, Aug-28: An amazing tree root has been found in the field of Vidya Prasain at Mahendranagar-1, Sunsari. The flooded Koshi river had exposed the buried root 8 feet long and 7 feet wide weighing 1.1 ton.
People can see twenty-two images of different living and non-living things. The images seen on the root are are of dinosaur, dragon, crocodile, peacock, deer, python, jackal, monkey, elephant, sea bird, parrot, mountain sheep, bull, owl, panda, bison, range of mountains, cave, picture of Kal Bhairab, aeroplane, fountain, and Lord Buddha too. The root was brought to Prasains home before one year and an artist worked on it to give its present form. Here, the shapes of every creature is seen as it is in reality. "When I found this root all the images could be seen clearly," says Nagendra Prasad Prasasi. District Forest Office Sunsari gave the certificate of ownership to the Prasain family as the root was found lying on the registered land Vidya Kumari Prasai, wife of Narendra Prasad Prasai. "The root can be considered as earth as all the images found in earth, sky and water can be seen clearly", says Prasai. He said the presence of Lord Buddha made the root a symbol of peace. Many people crowd to see the root everyday. They worship the root and offer money. "Nowadays, we dont allow people to worship the root because the images and shapes on it may get damaged", says Prasai. "The owners are in a mood to present the root to an institution for its public exposure," Tulasi Pathak - a relative of the Prasains - said. Insignia presented to foreigners Kathmandu, Aug. 28 (RSS): Member secretary of the Social Welfare Council Dr. Tika Pokharel presented insignia to the foreigners who have extended cooperation to the Sunagabha women vocational training centre in one way or the other as well as the trainers at a function held to mark its 7th anniversary the other day. Speaking at the function, Member Secretary Dr. Pokharel urged the donars to extend cooperation for the mentally retarded persons. Chairperson of Ganesh Man Foundation Navindra Raj Joshi said one can help the mentally retarded persons in different ways in the todays world. Chairman of National Disabled Federation, Nepal Muneshwar Pandey said there should be coordination among the organisations involved in the welfare of mentally retarded persons. The function was presided over by the centres chairperson Subarna Keshari Chitrakar. Kathmandu, Aug. 28 (RSS): A 19-member Buddhist delegation led by National Assembly member and Vice-President of the Dharmodaya Sabha Laxmidas Manandhar left here today on a two-week friendly visit to the Peoples Republic of China. The delegation which includes central joint treasurer Sagar Man Bajracharya and central member Drabya Man Singh Tuladhar will visit Shanghai, Xujhao, Hangchao, Jhaojhuyang, Nanzing and Beijing. The delegation is also scheduled to visit the world famous white pagoda in Beijing built by Nepali artist Araniko and hold cordial meetings and discussions with office-bearers of the National Buddhist Organsiation and the Buddhist Association of China. The friendly visit is expected to make a significant contribution to the further consoldiation of bilateral relations between Nepal And China. |
