For Prompt Services

HIS Majesty’s Government has always been committed to provide better and efficient services to the people and give sense of good governance in the country. In this connection, the state of emergency management and coordination committee has taken a number of decisions and measures to make people’s life easier and resolve people’s problems swiftly. As the first step towards this, the government has made provisions to make the bureaucracy more effective and efficient. For this, the government has clearly and strictly instructed civil servants to provide efficient and quick services to the people in all offices. Any civil servant who does not discharge duties quickly and efficiently and tries to create hassles would be punished. As a result, people, after the state of emergency was declared, have, in deed, experienced a marked change in the functioning of the government offices. The state of emergency was declared to maintain law and order and control violence and terrorism in the country. At the same time, the government is aiming to create an atmosphere in which people would be better served and their problems lessened. Against this background, the Ministry of Industries, Commerce and Supplies made some time-bound provisions for the services and facilities being provided by the departments, committees and offices under it. A meeting chaired by Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Purna Bahadur Khadka extensively discussed ways and means for providing better and more effective services to the people. The meeting decided to finalise the applications for granting licenses and other services within a certain period. Officials are required to properly inform and explain the people if they cannot accomplish the work within the given time frame. This definitely lessens the hassles of people and makes bureaucracy quick and efficient. The quick and efficient bureaucracy is also the reflection of good governance. It not only creates good governance but also wins credibility and popular support. In fact, the duty of bureaucrats is to provide services to the people, which is why they are called civil servants. Bureaucracy is the vehicle to implement the policies and programmes of the government. If the bureaucracy is not effective and efficient as well as responsible to the people, the policies and programmes of the government cannot benefit the target group. Thus, bureaucracy must be made effective, efficient and quick in order to implement the policies of the government and provide prompt and better services to the people. Thus, the decision of the government to ensure good governance is a laudable move, which needs support from all sections of the society.
