Infrastructure Needed For Development For one of the worlds least developed countries like Nepal, lack of infrastructure is a major challenge because infrastructure like road, electricity, telecommunications etc. is inevitable for all round development of the country. Due to the lack of the most crucial condition, no development programmes can yield the intended results. Because of its open policy, Nepal has made some strides over the past 10 years in building. For instance, the length of roads over the 1990s more than doubled from about 700 kilometres and the total supply of electricity also increased by 100 per cent. The telecommunications services have also been one of the high-growth areas. But the pace of development is very slow. Despite some progress, there is a lot more to be done, especially in the present context when other regional partners have made huge strides in terms of infrastructure development. As a poor country we are in dire need of getting rid of our problems, poverty being the most acute one. Siddhartha K. C. |
