Action to be taken against ADB loan defaulters Nuwakot, Dec. 21 (RSS):Small Enterprises Development Programme (SEDP) has decided to take action against the various groups taking loans from the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) without collateral and not paying back the loans for a long time. The decision to this effect was taken after the meeting chaired by Nuwakot DDC chairman Narayan Prasad Khatiwada sent repeated letters to the Tupche Sewing Industry Group, and the Nepali Paper Industry Groups of Bungtang and Fikuri to pay back the loans taken by them. Under the Poverty Alleviation Programme of His Majesty's Government, the Agricultural Development Bank had been providing loans without collateral to groups with skills to produce goods by using local raw materials on the recomendation of the Small Enterprises Development Office. President of Nuwakot District Chamber of Industry and Commerce Dhananarayan Chitrakar told RSS that loans taken by the groups would be recovered by freesing their movable and immovable property as such groups had deprived others of the opportunity of becoming self-reliant by not repaying the loans taken by them. Manager of the Small Enterprises Development Programme Prem Raj Neupane said that the decision to take stern action against the groups not repaying loans had been taken because of the increasing tendency among the people that they do not have to repay their loans after the rise in Maoist terrorist activities in the country. This tendency has created difficulties for the Small Enterprises Development Programme to issue loans to other individuals as well as groups wishing to carry out works, he added. |
