Building handed over to Siraha hospital

Siraha, Dec. 22 (RSS): A 10-bed capacity building for emergency treatment constructed in line with the government’s policy of providing health services to more and more people by expanding the capacity of the existing hospitals across the country was handed over to Siraha hospital the other day.

The building with six rooms was constructed with a financial assistance of Rs. 1.5 million provided by Siraha district health development board.

Given the urgency for adding extra beds for the patients who are compelled to have treatment by lying in the floor of the hospital, the board had come up with the plan for constructing an annex for emergency services.

Similarly, under the medicine procurement programme of the board, a community-based medicine retail outlet will be opened at the newly constructed building. Medicines worth Rs. 125,000 will be procured for the retail outlet in the initial phase.

After opening the medicine retail outlet at the hospital premises, medicines will be made available to the patients at five to six percent cheaper than the price in the local market, Dr. Murali Prasad Singh, medical superintendent of Siraha hospital said.

Siraha district health development board also has provided two beds each to the 12 health posts in the district at a cost of Rs. 152,000.

The health posts are now in a position of providing bed services to the patients who had been undergoing treatment by lying on the floors.
