163 terrorists surrender in Makwanpur

Hetauda, Dec. 24 (RSS): The number of Maoist terrorists giving themselves up to the local authorities in Makwanpur district and renouncing terrorist activity has reached 163 in the past five days, according to the district police office.

Meanwhile, out of the 68 suspects arrested from various VDCs of the district till this afternoon 60 have been released after necessary investigations, six have been imprisoned and two others taken into police custody, according to DSP Prem Bahadur Gurung.

Similarly, in Itahari, sixty-seven persons arrested for involvement in terrorist activity in Sunsari district have been kept under house arrest, according to the District Administration Office.

According to the latest information from the district administration, 29 persons arrested for suspected involvement in terrorist activity have been set free on condition that they present themselves before the District Administration Office every day.

Since the declaration of emergency 182 suspects have given themselves up to the district administration.

Meanwhile, in Syangja, the Syangja District Administration today clamped a dusk to dawn curfew at Syangja Putali Bazar and surrounding areas.
