Bhutanese team withdraw from Budha Subba Cup

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT

Dharan: Bhutan-11, the national team of Bhutan, decided not to compete in Tuesday’s match of the Fourth International Budha Subba Gold Cup Tournament, according to Dharan Football Club. Bhutan was invited as the first international team in the tourney.

"Since they are preparing for the upcoming SAF Championship to be held in Bangladesh in February next year they said they would not be able to take part in the Budhasubba soccer tourney," said Dilip Rai, chairman of Sunsari District Football Federation.

After the last hour decision by Bhutan not to take part in the tournament, UKAKC team from Sikkim has been selected for the fourth quarterfinal game today.

"Bhutenese team has betrayed us in the last hour," said Kishor Basnet, chairman of Dharan Club, which is organizing this tournament. "The Sikkim team will certainly make soccer fans forget the attraction of the Bhutanese team."
