Stone Inscriptions Will Not Destroy The Heritage Sites

This is in reference to the letter published in The Rising Nepal (TRN 2, Feb 2001). The inscriptions which are being erected in the world heritage sites are not meant to destroy or spoil the archaeological and ancient value of the sites but to disseminate brief information about these sites to all the visitors. The design, size and the location of inscriptions are selected, in coordination with the Department of Archaeology, such that they are immediately visible to all the visitors and that they do not disturb the prehistoric symmetry of the sites.

We thank Mr. Narendra B. Shrestha for showing concern about the conservation of the world heritage sites, but I would also like to assure that Nepal Tourism Board is also aware of the conservation of these sites as well as the need to provide authentic information readily to the visitors.

With best regards,

Tourism Products and Mr. Prabin Khadka
Resources DevelopmentOfficer (Local Events)
Nepal Tourism Board.
