LETTER TO THE EDITOR

My Child Is Not A Pawn

On Tuesday I saw a big rally of children from most of the major private boarding schools of the Kathmandu Valley. And of course the school of my son was no exception. The procession so large that it caused a traffic jam for a long time in Kathmandu. The question here is of not the standstill of vehicles, but of the problems small children who were forced to particiapte in the rally in the midday. I did not send my ward to the school to make him an instrument of his teachers interest, academic or political; and I am sure that no parents like me want that to happen again. This is the height of the human rights violation and is punishable by law if sued. Therefore, I earnestly urge the concerned schools not to repeat such activities involving children in future. Otherwise we may have to knock on the door of education authorities or even court for help.
