The number of the Internet browsers is growing day by day in Nepal, especially in the capital city. Though some still take the new technology as a mere means of entertainment, many are genuinely benefiting from its services. But the problem they are facing is the telephone tariff, which skyrockets in no time. A large number of countries that have the Internet facilities have relived the users from this problem. The system they have developed does not require telephone line to connect to the World Wide Web. This has two benefits. One, the users would be saved from paying extra money for the telephone and the other, the telephone would not be busy all the time. Besides, the state-run Nepal Telecommunications too has already launched the Internet services. In this context the Internet users would be greatly benefited if they were exempted from the burden of paying additional charge for telephone. I hope that the concerned authorities and organisations will give due attention to this issue that is directly linked with public benefit. Santosh Pokharel |
