Kathmandu, Feb. 23 (RSS): On the occasion of the 26th Education Day, His Majesty King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev conferred the Mahendra Vidya Bhushan first, second and third class medals on various persons at an investiture ceremony held at the Narayanhity Royal Palace today. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev was also present on the occasion. Of the total 157 persons receiving the Mahendra Vidya Bhushan medal this year, 74 persons received the Mahendra Vidya Bhushan first class medal, 59 persons the Mahendra Vidya Bhushan second class medal and 24 persons the Mahendra Vidya Bhushan third class medal today. The Mahendra Vidya Bhushan first class medal is awarded to persons receiving Ph.D degree from the local and foreign universities, the Mahendra Vidya Bhushan second class medal awarded to persons securing highest positions in the masters degree and the Mahendra Vidya Bhushan third class medal awarded to persons securing highest positions in the graduate level degrees. Minister for Education and Sports Amod Prasad Upadhyaya and Minister of State Dilendra Prasad Badu were also present at the investiture ceremony. Other Stories |
